General and Academic courses

If you need languages for your studies, you can apply for Priority Funding from your college (for undergraduates) or department/faculty (for postgraduates). This support will usually cover the full fee.

Fast Track courses

Colleges will consider refunding up to half the Fast Track course fees on completion of the course at the end of Trinity term. Please contact your college about this when you start your course.

All language learners present different learner profiles and have different strengths – not everybody in your class will be at exactly the same level. If you feel that you are not in the right level – please speak to your tutor in the first week.

Whether you are having difficulties attending classes, finding the time to study or struggling with a particular aspect of language learning, you should raise this with your tutor. You can send them an email or contact them via the Virtual Classroom for your course. Your tutor will be best placed to give you advice and support. This may be in the form of specific resources on the Virtual Classroom, additional exercises, and specific strategies. The Language Centre facilitates a Language Exchange scheme through which all our learners can get further support from native speakers.

This depends on the course you are attending – all learners who have attended 80% of classes can be issued with a certificate of course attendance (upon request) at the end of the term / course. All Modern Languages courses also include optional in-class assessments which will give you the opportunity, if you pass them, to receive an additional completion certificate at the corresponding CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Language) level of competence.

Please see our terms and conditions. Please refer to points 14 - 20 for information about cancellations.

Your Oxford SSO (Single Sign-On) will determine which fee you are charged e.g. student, staff fee etc. When you first place the course in your basket, the general fee will be displayed. However, once you reach the payment screen, the fee will automatically change to reflect your SSO status.

Yes, we are in an Eduroam zone.

We provide water fountains and cups, but please bring your own water bottle to be environmentally friendly. There are no other drinks or food available to purchase. You are welcome to consume your own food and drink in the seating in the open area on the ground floor, but we ask that only water in sealed containers is taken into the classrooms.
