The Library has a Library Blog on which you can find the latest acquisitions on LibraryThing, websites of interest on Delicious latest world news on Netvibes and library updates on Twitter and Facebook. A guide (word, pdf) is also available.

All new users must register (either with the Reception desk or in the Library) and take an induction tour which are scheduled at 10 am and 2 pm every week day.

The Language Centre has one of the largest collection of materials for language learning in the UK. Currently there are 140 languages but the collection expands every year as new languages are added, often on request. The collection consists of:

● Textbooks with audio-visual material, Reference material (dictionaries, grammars, vocabulary builders) and other books (readers, phonetics, literature)

● Magazines, newspapers, daily recorded news in Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish, satellite television in fourteen languages

● Videos: a large stock of foreign language films, documentaries and textbooks (list on excel, pdf)

● CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) on eight open-access computers (list on excel, pdf)

● Modern Languages Final examinations since 1978 (Listening Comprehension, Discourse Topics)
