CACE courses are available to University of Oxford students and researchers at different stages of study and research. Some courses and programmes are also open to academic visitors, prospective students and participants from other institutions. Please check the relevant course page for eligibility.
No. Our provision is open to eligible students and researchers regardless of their first language. CACE has particular expertise in supporting international students and those who use English as an additional language, but our courses are designed for anyone seeking to develop their academic communication.
Participants on term-time courses should normally have a minimum English language proficiency of B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Individual course pages provide any additional requirements. Separate entry criteria apply to the Pre-sessional Course in Academic English.
Yes. Term-time courses can normally be taken independently, unless the individual course description states otherwise.
Please follow the enrolment link on the relevant course page. Eligible University of Oxford students and researchers may be asked to sign in using their University account so that the correct fee and eligibility category can be applied.
You may be able to join a waiting list. If a place becomes available, we will contact you. Where possible, you may also be offered an alternative class or course.
Fees vary according to the course and your relationship with the University. Please consult the current fee information and the individual course page before enrolling. Departments and colleges may fund places in some circumstances.
Yes. CACE works with divisions, departments, colleges and academic programmes to design tailored or embedded provision. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Yes. Individual tutorials are available for students and researchers seeking focused support with academic writing, spoken communication or other academic communication needs. These may be funded privately or by a department or college.
Our courses are taught by specialists in Academic English and academic communication, with experience of supporting students and researchers across disciplines and stages of study.
